Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre hopes to teach Parkland County residents

In May 2023, a new cultural centre opened in Spruce Grove offering many different teachings, shopping and ways to connect with the Indigenous communities in the area.

The Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre is nestled off the Highway 16 A in Spruce Grove. They serve as a meeting space for people who are looking to learn about Truth and Reconciliation in the Tri-Region area.

The building offers an art gallery, selling curated paintings, ceramics, jewelry, clothing, books and much more, all from different artists representing different nations and cultures.

Dianne Meili is the president of the Skydancer Indigenous Cultural Centre and says they want to be the first step in learning about Truth and Reconciliation.

The artwork throughout the space, showcasing some of the vast and beautiful cultures of the Dene, Cree, Metis, Nakota and Inuit people’s.

Meili goes on to add what she hopes people, Indigenous and non-Indigenous take away from their space and message.
