Earlier this fall, the third edition of the TikTok Accelerator for Indigenous Creators features 40 creators from across Canada being named to the program, with almost a quarter of them being from Alberta.

The program, presented by the National Screen Institute, is run by well-established Indigenous creators to help guide and mentor up and coming Indigenous creators in growing their platform, while staying true to their culture, according to TikTok.

Of those 40 participants, Julie Laflamme from Edmonton took part. She is the owner and CEO of Beauty2Brows, which she says is the first Indigenous beauty academy in the world. She also has a large social media following with 4k followers on TikTok, and over 30k followers on Instagram.

In an interview, Laflamme said, “it’s a really good outlet for people like myself who are still learning to this day about our culture. It’s a good outlet for myself to be educated still.”
