"We started with an idea that cultural revitalization really starts with our artists, with our culture and our language. And the culture festival 'break', the two year hiatus because of COVID-19, we really missed it as community members." - Elena Gould, director of education, culture and language at ATC
The Athabasca Tribal Council’s (ATC) Cultural Festival is returning to Fort McMurray after a two year delay, due to the pandemic.
The festival, which runs September 8-11, showcases and celebrates Indigenous arts and culture, including musical entertainment, and is open to everyone.
CFWE sat down with Elana Gould, director of education, culture and language at ATC to talk about what you can expect to take in.
